Bose L1 Website

I just finished a little project for Music Villa.  It’s sort of an experiment really.  A mini site dedicated to one product that the entire staff believes in.  Almost like a Ginsu knife commercial but a little different. Check it out: Bose L1 Sound System Guide.

Here’s one of the two videos I made just for the site…

Berklee Music Certified Topspin Marketer

Over the last couple months I’ve been taking a Berklee music marketing course to get certified as a Topspin Marketer.  As of now, to use the Topspin platform you either have to hire a Topspin Certified Marketer or become one.  I’m somewhat of a control freak so I decided to become one.

In a nutshell, Topspin is a music marketing platform that integrates email software, digital delivery, ecommerce, and extensive statistics tracking all in a single dashboard.  If you combined stuff like Reverbnation, Mailchimp, E-junkie, and Artistdata you might get something similar to Topspin.  Now imagine if you could combine the data from all of these tools.   You could get information like which people on your mailing list purchased what, how they got on your mailing list (a gig, a email for media widget, etc) and the list goes on.

I expected that I’d already know quite a bit of what was being taught but I’ve been pleasantly surprised with some hidden gems of music marketing wisdom.  I probably won’t change much of what I’m already doing for my artists but this course has certainly given me a confidence boost and provided a clearer understanding of online music marketing best practices.

Gretsch Golden Grenade

I had an amazing opportunity to travel to Anaheim, CA with Music Villa for the annual NAMM Show otherwise known as a musician’s gear paradise.  NAMM usually gets around 90,000 attendees over the three day period.  If there was ever a moment that I stopped and said, now THAT I have to have, it was when I stumbled on this beauty.  I don’t actually know what it’s called but I have dubbed it the “Golden Grenade”.  I won’t be getting this anytime soon because the price tag is well over $6k!  But if Gretsch calls to say they need someone to test drive this thing for a couple years, I’d be more than happy to help them out.  The next step would be to find matching gold cymbal stands.
